
Ron Nicol became a member of the Lyric Players while he was a student in Belfast, going on to work at Perth Repertory Theatre, Lincoln Theatre Royal, Harrogate Opera House and York Theatre Royal, with John Ridley Projects at Chelmsford Civic Theatre, with touring productions, and in musicals, pantomime, music hall and variety. Now based in Fife, Scotland, he trained radio broadcasters at Glenrothes College, produced and presented a weekly programme on Radio Tay's Campus Radio, lectured in theatre with the University of St Andrews Adult Education Department, and was a drama adviser for the Scottish Community Drama Association. He's a member of the Scottish Society of Playwrights.
In 1978 he co-founded Glenrothes Theatre Company with his wife Norma, a former professional actress. Since then he's written and directed most of their senior, youth and children's productions.
He has a BA from Queen's University Belfast, a post-graduate teaching qualification from Moray House College Edinburgh, and is a Licentiate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
